Divisions of the Alimentary Canal
- Foregut extends from the oral cavity to the superior part of the duodenum, including the oesophagus and stomach.
- Midgut starts from the middle part of the duodenum and extends to the right 2/3 of the transverse colon, comprising the jejunum, ileum, caecum, ascending colon, and 2/3 of the transverse colon.
- Hindgut begins from the left 1/3 of the transverse colon and includes the sigmoid colon, descending colon, rectum, and anal canal.
