PDF+ and Normalized PDF
- Both PDF+ and Normalized PDF are regular PDF files that can be opened and edited in any PDF editor or reader.
- They contain additional information available to compatible editors.
- PDF+ and Normalized PDF implement specific limitations and specifications.
Key Features of PDF+ and Normalized PDF
- PDF+:
- Stores ink order in the file.
- Includes non-printing data (Cut, Die, etc.) and special processing steps (varnish, etc.).
- Supports Technical Inks and Varnish.
- Normalized PDF:
- Also stores ink order in the file.
- Includes non-printing data (Cut, Die, etc.) and special processing steps (varnish, etc.).
- Supports Technical Inks and Varnish.
- Document Profile as output intent is obligated; if none is present, a default profile will be added when saving.
Creating and Opening Files
- New files are created in PDF+ format.
- Files can be opened by selecting File > Open, using a shortcut, or by dragging and dropping a supported file.
Layer Structure
- When inserting content, layer structure is merged following specific principles:
- If a source layer name matches a layer in the current document, objects are inserted in that layer.
- A new Processing Step layer or Artwork layer will be created if the source layer doesn't exist in the current document.
Document Setup
- Document Setup allows adding a Distortion value to compensate for printing distortions.
- Distortion Factors of a placed PDF+ or Normalized PDF are ignored.
Additional Features
- Plate Cutting Paths can be combined and created from closed or open paths.
- Step & Repeat based on an MFG or CF2 file allows adding Panel Tags with bleed information.
- Image Inspector and Placed Art Inspector show scaling information for linked images and placed art.
