Mail Merge Components

Creating a Mail Merge
- First, open Microsoft Excel and select a blank workbook
- Input data into Microsoft Excel and save it as "data source"
- Open Microsoft Word and choose a blank document
- Select the Page Layout tab, adjust the paragraph settings, set line spacing to Single and the "After" to Zero (0) and click OK
- Select Mailings then select Recipients then Use an Existing List
- Find and select the "Data source" file
- Click MAILINGS to select the info to fill out; names, company name / addresses and salutations
- Click Preview Results then the next record single arrow
- Click File then input file name and save
File Formats
- Microsoft Word file formats are denoted by a .doc or .docx extension
- Word 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016 for Windows utilize the .docx format
