Vacation Service Credits & Compensatory Overtime Credit

VSC Eligibility
- VSC is granted for activities that involve teaching outside regular school hours.

- Services rendered during the early opening of the school year, including Brigada Eskwela, Oplan Balik Eskwela, and enrollment.
- Conduct of DepEd testing and assessment activities held outside of school days.
- Services rendered on teaching-related, and learning and development programs, and activities conducted weekends, holidays, Christmas, and long vacation.
- Attendance/participation in special DepEd projects and activities which are short-term in duration such as English, Science and Math Mentors’ Training, curriculum writing workshop, planning workshop, etc., if such are held during the Christmas, summer/long vacation or during weekends or holidays.
- Services rendered before, during and after a calamity when schools are being used as evacuation centers.
- Services rendered during registration and election days as long as these are mandated under existing laws.
COC Eligibility
- COC is only granted for non-teaching staff.
- Requests for COC must be submitted separately from VSC requests.
- A separate folder and daily time record (DTR) must be submitted for COC requests.
Processing Procedure
- The School Head or Administrative Officer (AO) is responsible for collecting, checking, and validating the documentation required for VSC or COC requests.
- After validation, the School Head or AO submits the documents to the Schools Division Office of Cotabato for approval.
- The Administrative Services – Personnel Unit issues a Special Order for the grant of Vacation Service Credits once the request is approved, and a copy is provided to the school.

Memorandum Effectivity
- DepEd Order No. 53, s. 2024, takes effect fifteen (15) days after its publication on the DepEd website. The effective date is October 4, 2024.
- Activities conducted before October 4, 2024, will continue to be governed by DO 53, s. 2003.
