Dearness and Other Compensatory Allowances

  • Railway employees ('A', 'B', 'C', and 'D' groups) receive dearness allowances. These are based on government set scales.

  • Temporary staff, contract workers, and those whose pay is fixed by market conditions are generally excluded.

  • "Pay" includes basic pay, pension, and other defined retirement benefits.

  • 30% of running staff basic pay is considered running allowance pay.

  • Dearness allowance for re-employed pensioners is calculated based on the pay at re-employment, plus pension total.
