- Clockwise: Like the movement of the hands of a clock—right shoulder faces the center of an imaginary circle and when facing center, the movement is toward the left.
- Counterclockwise: The opposite direction of clockwise—left shoulder is toward the center of an imaginary circle and when facing center, the movement is to the right.
- Free foot: The foot that does not bear the weight of the body.
- Hands on waist: Place hands on the waist with knuckles in and fingers pointing to the back.
- Kumintang: An Ilocano term for movement of the hands from the wrist, either clockwise or counterclockwise.
- Pivot turn: Turning on the ball or heel of one or both feet on a fixed point or place.
- Tap: Lightly tap with the ball or tip of the toe, placing the weight of the body on the foot.
