An act that does not constitute an offense if it directly averts an imminent attack on an interest protected by law or a danger directly threatening an interest protected by law, provided that the act did not cause a consequence as serious as the one that threatened, and this danger could not be eliminated otherwise in the given situation.

Negligence is sufficient for liability for an offense, unless the law on offenses explicitly requires intentional fault.

A person who has not reached the age of 14 at the time of the offense is not liable.

Reprimand, fine, ban from activity, and forfeiture of goods.

Reprimand cannot be imposed together with a fine.

An offense cannot be tried if two years have elapsed since its commission.

Restrictive measure and confiscation of goods.

Everyone can act in a way that is not prohibited by law, and no one can be forced to do something that the law does not require.

They are inalienable, non-transferable, imprescriptible, and irrepealable.

Everyone has the right to preserve their human dignity, personal honor, good reputation, and to protect their name.

Every citizen has the right to free access to the territory of the Slovak Republic. A citizen cannot be forced to leave their homeland, and they cannot be expelled.

By word, writing, printing, image or other means, as well as freely seeking, receiving and disseminating ideas and information, regardless of state boundaries, with censorship prohibited.

Is guaranteed. Everyone has the right to associate with others in associations, societies or other organizations.

The right to remuneration for work performed, sufficient to enable them to have a decent standard of living.

Everyone is obligated to protect and improve the environment and cultural heritage.

According to the procedure prescribed by law, their right in an independent and impartial court, and in cases prescribed by law in another body of the Slovak Republic.

They are obligated to respect the honor, dignity, and seriousness of the person, as well as their own, and to prevent unnecessary harm to the person and excessive interference with their rights and freedoms in connection with their duties.

When performing service duties involving interference with the rights or freedoms of a person, they are obliged to inform that person of their rights as soon as possible.

If the nature and circumstances permit, make a call appropriate to the intervention.

Before a service intervention, they are obliged to prove their affiliation with the Police Force, if the nature and circumstances of the service intervention permit.

By service uniform with an identification number, service card, badge of the criminal police or the financial police, or by the verbal statement “Police”.

When entering facilities where entry is controlled by an authorized person or when requested to do so during a service intervention, a Slovak police officer in uniform with an identification number also proves their affiliation with a service card and, depending on the circumstances, also by a verbal statement.

They are obliged to prove affiliation with the Police Force before commencing a service intervention by a verbal statement and a service card or badge of the criminal police or financial police.

They must not release the service card or badge of the criminal police or the financial police from their hands; upon request, they will allow inspection of the front side of the service card or badge.

They are authorized to request that a person immediately or at a specified time report to a Police Force unit to write up a record of providing an explanation, or, if it is a matter of clarifying an offense, to write up a record or to enter the results of the actions in a report on the result of clarifying the offense.

They are authorized to request necessary information from a person who can contribute to the clarification of a matter important for uncovering a criminal offense and identifying the perpetrator.

If the person called upon to prove their identity with an identity document refuses to do so, the Slovak police officer is authorized to take that person to a Police Force unit to determine their identity.

They are authorized to detain a person caught in the act of committing an offense or another administrative offense, if there is reasonable concern that they will continue to commit it, or if it is urgently necessary to properly determine or clarify the matter.

To carry out the necessary actions, the Slovak police officer is authorized to secure an item if they suspect that it is connected with the commission of a criminal offense or an offense, and securing it is necessary to determine the facts of the matter or to make a decision by the authority in the proceedings concerning the offense or if it is an item that the police of another state are searching for.

They are authorized to check whether they are carrying a weapon and, if they are, to remove it.

Slovak police officers are authorized to seal off publicly accessible places and conduct their inspection to find out whether these persons or items are not located there.

It is an order-keeping unit that operates in securing municipal affairs of public order, protecting the environment in the municipality, and fulfilling tasks arising from the generally binding municipal ordinances, from the resolutions of the municipal council, and from the decisions of the mayor of the municipality.

It does not include delivering documents as instructed by the prosecutor.

They are obliged, in the event that a criminal offense has been committed, to report the matter to the Police Force or the prosecutor, and depending on the nature of the matter, also to prevent unauthorized persons from entering the scene of the crime.

They are authorized to detain a person caught in the act of committing or immediately after committing a criminal offense and immediately hand them over to the nearest unit of the Police Force.

To make sure that the person they are detaining or escorting is not armed or is not carrying another item with which they could endanger life or health; to take away the item or weapon; to hand over the item or weapon taken away along with the detained or escorted person to the nearest unit of the Police Force.

They are authorized to request a person caught in the act of committing an offense, from whom an explanation is required, to prove their identity; the person is obliged to comply with the request.

They are authorized to use handholds, grapples, blows, and kicks of self-defense, tear gas, and a baton.

They are authorized to use a weapon in cases of self-defense and extreme necessity.

They prove affiliation with the municipal police by a municipal police officer uniform with a clearly visible circular municipal police badge, a municipal police identification badge, a municipal police officer's card, as well as by the verbal statement “municipal police” or “city police”.

It applies to persons found on the premises of the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic and military facilities, spaces and places where military operations or military actions are taking place.

They are authorized to request necessary information from a person who can contribute to clarifying a matter important for uncovering a criminal offense and identifying the perpetrator.

They are authorized to inspect vehicles driven by soldiers and military vehicles.

When regulating traffic of military vehicles, motor vehicles, and non-motor vehicles on public roads or when stopping them, they have the same rights as a police officer of the Police Force

It is forbidden to enter, without permission, a protected military facility that is protected by the Military Police or the supervisory service or the guard service of the armed forces of the Slovak Republic.

They prove affiliation with the information service by a service card with a registration number and a verbal statement “Slovak Information Service”.

The Slovak Information Service is authorized, within the scope of its jurisdiction, to request from state and other authorities, legal entities, and natural persons to provide assistance, background material, and information that can contribute to clarify matters important for fulfilling their tasks.
