Diction

- Diction involves considering word connotations (associations and meanings beyond the dictionary definition). A word's connotation creates a stronger effect than its denotation (dictionary definition).
- Examples of word choice elements include:
- Idioms: Phrases with meanings that are not literal.
- Slangs: Informal types of language, often associated with specific groups or times.
- Jargons: Specialized vocabulary used by a particular group or profession.
