Cranial Nerves
- The special sensory component of hearing is associated with the Vestibulocochlear nerve (CN VIII).
- The Ophthalmic division of the Trigeminal nerve is responsible for sensory innervation of the cornea, skin of the forehead, scalp, eyelids, and nose.
- The Trochlear nerve (CN IV) assists in turning the eyeball downward and laterally.
- The main function of the Trochlear nerve (CN IV) is to control the superior oblique muscle, which rotates the eyeball downward and laterally.
- The Trigeminal nerve (CN V) is responsible for innervating muscles of mastication, mylohyoid, anterior belly of digastric, tensor veli palatini, and tensor tympani.
- The Olfactory nerve (CN I) is responsible for transmitting olfactory information.
- The Optic nerve (CN II) is responsible for vision.
- The Trigeminal nerve has three divisions: Ophthalmic, Maxillary, and Mandibular.
- The Abducent nerve (CN VI) is the sixth cranial nerve.
