- Research Interests: software engineering, databases, data analysis, information security.

Course Rules
- Mutual respect is mandatory.
- Be punctual. The lecture starts on time. 10 minutes past the lecture time, you will be allowed to attend but NO attendance will be marked.
- Mobile phones are switched off and out of sight.
- The main language of instruction and communication is English.
- Bring a pen/pencil and paper to every lecture.
- Communicate with the instructor if you have any reason not to attend/study the lectures.
- Retrospective at the end of each lecture is crucial and participation is required.
- Study from the book. Presentations alone are not enough.
- Download the book and bring it to every lecture.
Course Description
- MGT200x: This course provides a solid foundation in core management concepts, schools, and approaches.
- Focuses on a broad perspective of modern management within private, public, or voluntary sectors.
- Examines key management issues likely to arise in the near future.
Course Content
- Basic managerial functions: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
- Different approaches to management: past and present.
- Managing in a global environment.
- The business environment.
- Organizational strategies through the use of SWOT analysis.
- The manager as a decision maker.
- Being an effective leader.

- TBD: 2 Assignments (10 marks total, 5 marks each)
- Week 4: Quiz 1 (10 marks)
- Weeks 7&8: Midterm (20 marks)
- Week 10: Quiz 2 (10 marks)
- Week 13: Project (10 marks)
- Weeks 14, 15, 16: Final Exam (40 marks)
- Total Marks: 100
- Note: Midterm and Final exams grades should be out of 100 marks.

- Management is the process of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling human and other resources to achieve organizational goals efficiently and effectively.
- An organization is a group of people who work together and coordinate their actions to achieve a variety of goals or desired future outcomes.
- Efficiency: Doing things right. Getting the most output for the least input. Example: UPS reducing delivery time by instructing drivers to open their truck doors when going short distances.
- Effectiveness: Doing the right thing. Attaining organizational goals. Example: A company’s focus on a goal and making decisions to achieve it.
