- Five general types of plagiarism exist:
- Cutting and pasting
- Word-switching

Penalties for Intellectual Property (IP) Offenders
- First offenders:
- Fine of PHP 50,000 to 150,000 and/or imprisonment of 1-2 years
- Second offenders:
- Fine of PHP 150,000 to 500,000 and/or imprisonment of 3-6 years
- Third and subsequent offenders:
- Fine of PHP 500,000 to 1.5 million and/or imprisonment of 6-10 years
- Insolvency: If the offender is insolvent, they will face additional subsidiary imprisonment
