Plumbing Fixtures and Systems
- A vent is provided with a fly screen to prevent insects from entering the vent.
- Septic tanks are buried, watertight tanks that receive and partially treat raw domestic sanitary wastewater.
Drainage System
- The drainage system conveys water from closets and fixtures to the house drain, which should be properly concealed or embedded.
- The soil pipe receives and conveys drainage of water closets and other fixtures to the house drain.
Vents and Sewers
- A branch vent connects one or more individual vents with a vent stack.
- Main sewer is the sewer line or system directly controlled by public authority.
- Public sewer is a common sewer where all abutters have equal rights of connection.
- Sanitary sewer is a sewer intended to receive sanitary sewage or industrial waste without the admixture of water or storm water.
Plumbing System
- Plumbing system includes water supply distribution pipes, fixtures, and traps, soil, waste, and vent pipes.
- Vent system is a pipe installed to provide a flow of air circulation within the plumbing system to protect trap seals from siphoning and back pressure.
- Rough-in is the installation of all parts of the plumbing system which can be completed prior to the installation of fixtures.
Water Supply System
- Water supply system consists of the water service pipe that supplies water to a building or premises.
Pipes and Fittings
- Pipes can be made of Cast Iron, High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Polypropylene (PPr), or Lead.
- Pipe fittings are used to join two sections of pipes, including copper supply, galvanized supply, plastic supply, polyethylene and spigot supply, and polypropylene random copolymer plastic.
Plumbing Fixtures
- Water closets are plumbing fixtures used to convey organic body waste to the plumbing system, including pail flush type, squat type, wash down type, reverse type, and siphon jet type.
- Bath tubs are containers for holding water in which a person may bathe.
- Bidets are plumbing fixtures closely related to a shower than to a toilet bowl.

- Driving tools include hammer/sledge hammer, screwdriver, and wrenches.
- Testing tools are used in finding out how well the finished work is in terms of vertical and horizontal alignment.
