Prophet Muhammad

One of the significant divisions within Islam emerged shortly after Muhammad's passing due to disagreements regarding leadership succession. Two main sects evolved—Shi'ites and Sunnis. Early converts took up arms against persecutors, establishing a powerful military state that served both to defend themselves and to expand their influence. By the late seventh century, the Rashidun Caliphate had firmly established territorial control stretching westward across North Africa and eastward towards Central Asia, further solidifying its position in global power dynamics. To this day, Islam continues to thrive, demonstrating resiliency amidst diverse cultures and environments.
