Aims to conserve and protect coastal environment, support local communities, and promote sustainable development

Excludes Andaman, Nicobar, and Lakshadweep Islands and their surrounding marine areas

CRZ Area Classification

CRZ-I areas are most critical and require further classification
CRZ-IA includes ecologically sensitive areas and geomorphological features (e.g., mangroves >1000 sq.mts, corals, sand dunes, biologically-active mudflats, national parks, marine parks, sanctuaries, reserve forests, wildlife habitats)
