    What is CMAS?

    • Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS)
    • Colorado's standards-based assessments designed to measure Colorado Academic Standards (CAS).
    • Assessments cover English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
    • Purposes: Indicate student mastery of CAS expectations in each content area at the end of the tested grade level. Also, measure student academic progress relative to the CAS. This aids districts and schools in assessing program effectiveness.
    • CMAS administrations:
      • Science and social studies: 2013-14 was the first year of administration.
      • Math and English language arts: 2014-15 was the first year of administration.
    • Social studies assessments are administered in schools identified during the Spring 2025 social studies sample.

    Test Administrator Manuals (TAMs)

    • Test Administrators use TAMs for detailed instructions and general administration.
    • Two TAMs exist: one for computer-based testing and another for paper-based testing.
    • Information about the test and relevant policies and procedures are in the spring 2025 CMAS Computer-based Testing Test Administrator Manual.
    • Checklists for before, during, and after testing tasks are within the TAM.

    Verify Answers are Submitted

    • Verify all students successfully completed the unit(s) in PAnext in an appropriate manner and that the units reflect a status of “Completed”.
    • A “Resume Upload” function and a follow-up procedure are available if a student has an Exited status.
    • This ensures only completed tests are recorded and ready for reporting. This also ensures that incomplete or erroneous tests are dealt with accordingly and appropriately.

    • All units should be completed before the test session is stopped.
    • Collect, return materials, and document the process as outlined by the chain of custody.
