Study Notes
Types of Motion
- Motions can be along a straight line, circular, or periodic
- Examples of different types of motion:
- Soldiers in a march past (marching in a straight line)
- Bullock cart moving on a straight road (motion along a straight line)
- Hands of an athlete in a race (circular motion)
- Pedal of a bicycle in motion (circular motion)
- Motion of the earth around the sun (periodic motion)
- Motion of a swing (periodic motion)
- Motion of a pendulum (periodic motion)
Speed and Motion
- Objects can move at different speeds
- The same object can move at different speeds at different times
- To determine if an object is moving slow or fast, observe the distance it covers in a given interval of time
- Examples of objects moving along a straight path:
- Group the motion of these objects as slow and fast
- Decide which object is moving slow and which one is moving fast based on the distance covered
Observing Motion
- Observe the position of objects moving in the same direction at different times to determine their speed
- The distance moved by objects in a given interval of time can help decide which one is faster or slower
- Example: Observing the motion of vehicles moving on a road in the same direction
- Identify the vehicle moving the fastest and the slowest of all
- Determine the distance covered by each vehicle to decide which one is faster or slower

Description
This quiz is based on the types of motions learned in Class 6. It covers different types of motions such as straight line motion, circular motion, and periodic motion. Identify the type of motion in each case and make a list of objects moving along a straight path.
