Chemical Reactions

• A chemical reaction is a process in which one or more substances are converted into new substances with different properties.
• It involves a change in the chemical composition of the reactants, resulting in the formation of products.

Types of Chemical Reactions

• Combustion Reaction: a reaction between a substance and oxygen, resulting in the release of heat and light, e.g., burning of fuels.

• Oxidation Reaction: a reaction in which an atom, molecule, or ion loses one or more electrons, e.g., rusting of iron.
• Replacement Reaction: a reaction in which one element displaces another element from a compound, e.g., zinc displacing copper from copper sulfate.
