General Principles

Obligations: Undue Enrichment (Sections 406 - 419)
- Any person unjustly enriched must return the benefit, regardless of the legal grounds.
- Good faith receivers of non-monetary property bear no responsibility for damages; however, they must return any subsequent gains.
- Bad faith receivers are liable for any losses, even if caused by force majeure, unless they can prove the loss would happen regardless.
Obligations: Wrongful Acts/Tort (Sections 420 - 452)
- Engaging in wrongful acts causing harm to others mandates compensation responsibilities.
- Employers share liability for employees’ wrongful acts performed during employment.
- Employers are generally not liable for contractors' actions unless at fault regarding instructions or contractor selection.
Family and Succession: Engagement/Marriage (Sections 1435 - 1535)
- Two categories of property:
- Sin Suan Tua: property owned before marriage, personal use items, and property received through gifts or wills.
