Migrants make perilous journey to US-Mexico border ahead of Title 42 expiration

Tens of thousands of migrants are making a perilous journey to the US-Mexico border ahead of the expiration of the Covid-era immigration rule known as Title 42.

The lifting of Title 42 may mean heavier legal penalties, but the migrants are focused on escaping their countries and starting again in the US, whatever process they have to follow.
Felipe and Marcela, a couple from Colombia, are also making the journey with the singular goal of crossing the border.

The migrants suffer from hunger, thirst, and sickness, but their worst fear is the threat of violence, especially to women.
Omar Zambrano, a chef who left Venezuela six months ago to escape the crime and violence there, is one of the migrants who has tried and been sent back before, but will try to cross the border again.
