Children have the right to fair and humane treatment, sensitive and appropriate legal, health, and social services, and to organize themselves to fight for their legitimate concerns.

Child Sexual Abuse

Child sexual abuse, also known as child molestation, is a form of abuse where an adult or older adolescent uses a child for sexual stimulation.
Approximately 7 million children are sexually abused every year in the Philippines, with 87% of the cases involving girls, and 11.7% occurring in the family home.
Poverty, physical or sexual abuse, lack of moral and spiritual development in the family, and lack of proper education are contributing factors.

Prostitution

Prostitution is the practice of engaging in relatively indiscriminate sexual activity with someone who is a stranger in exchange for immediate payment.
In 2013, there were an estimated 500,000 prostitutes in the Philippines, with sexual violence and physical assault being the norm.
Prostitution can lead to health problems, post-traumatic stress disorder, and a higher risk of being murdered.

Cybersex

Cybersex is a virtual sex encounter in which two or more persons connected remotely via computer network send each other sexually explicit messages.
Increased accessibility to online resources is a contributing factor to cybersex.
Cybersex can lead to addiction and negative effects on users.

Street Children

Street children lack access to sanitary facilities, are often dirty and infested with fleas, and are exposed to different diseases.
They use drugs to escape their reality, which has a negative impact on their physical, psychosocial, cultural, and economic development.

Working Children

According to R.A. 9231, no child below 15 years of age shall be employed, except when they work directly under the sole responsibility of their parents or guardian.
There are approximately 2.1 million child laborers aged 5-17 years old in the Philippines.
Child labor can mean exploitation, long hours, harsh conditions, and little chance to develop.
