Chemistry is the scientific study of the properties and behavior of matter.

Chemistry covers the elements that make up matter, the compounds made of atoms, molecules, and ions, their composition, structure, properties, behavior, and the changes they undergo during a reaction with other substances.

In biological organisms, salt serves as an electrolyte that enables neural signals to be transmitted by the brain to the muscles and organs, and vice-versa.

Neural signals control the voluntary and involuntary movements of muscles. They also transmit information from sense organs like the eyes and tongue, and regulate the release of hormones from the endocrine system.
