- The Online CET consists of 4 sections: Mathematics & Statistics, Logical / Abstract Reasoning, English comprehension and verbal ability, and Computer Concepts.
- The exam is worth 200 marks, with a composite time of 90 minutes.
Mathematics & Statistics
- Covers high school mathematics topics (up to 12th standard).
- Algebra: Includes fundamental operations, expansion, factorization, quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations, and combinations.
- Co-ordinate Geometry: Includes rectangular Cartesian co-ordinates, equations of a line, midpoint, intersections, equations of a circle, distance formulae, pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, geometric transformations like translation, rotation, and scaling.
- Differential Equations: Focuses on first-order differential equations and their solutions, linear differential equations with constant coefficients, and homogeneous linear differential equations.
- Trigonometry: Includes simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles, height and distance, and inverse function.
- Probability and Statistics: Includes basic concepts of probability theory, averages, dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, measures of dispersions, skewness and kurtosis, random variable and distribution functions, mathematical expectations, Binomial, Poisson, normal distributions, curve fitting, principle of least squares, correlation, and regression.
- Arithmetic: Deals with ratios, proportions, problems on time-work, distance-speed, percentage, etc.
- Basic Set Theory and Functions: Covers sets, relations, and mappings.
- Mensuration: Includes areas of triangles and quadrilaterals, area and circumference of circles, volumes, and surface areas of simple solids like cubes, spheres, cylinders, and cones.
Logical / Abstract Reasoning
- Tests how quickly and logically one can think.
- Focuses on logical situations and questions based on facts given in a passage.
- Evaluates problem-solving capability.
English Comprehension and Verbal Ability
- Designed to test the candidate's general understanding of the English language.
- Covers topics like basic English grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, synonyms, antonyms, sentence correction, word & phrases, and jumbled paragraphs.
Computer Concepts
- Computer Basics: Includes organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, memory organization, and back-up devices.
- Data Representation: Covers representation of characters, integers, and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, binary arithmetic (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication), signed arithmetic and two's complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, normalized floating point representation, Boolean algebra, truth tables, and Venn diagrams.
- Computer Architecture: Includes basics of digital logic, block structure of computers, communication between processor and I/O devices, and interrupts.
- Computer Language: Covers fundamentals of data & file structures, high-level languages, Computer Programming in C, and advanced concepts in programming.
- Operating System basics are also included.
Marking Scheme and Duration
- Mathematics & Statistics: 30 questions, 2 marks per question.
- Logical / Abstract Reasoning: 30 questions, 2 marks per question.
- English comprehension and verbal ability: 20 questions, 2 marks per question.
- Computer Concepts: 20 questions, 2 marks per question.
- Total marks for the test: 200.
- The test consists of multiple-choice objective-type questions with four options.
- There is no negative marking.
- Test duration: 90 minutes.
