Comprensión Auditiva
- The listening comprehension section of the B1 certification assesses the candidate's ability to understand spoken Spanish.
- The section consists of 3 parts:
- Monologues: 5-6 minutes of a single speaker talking about a topic, followed by 5-7 multiple-choice questions.
- Dialogues: 2-3 minutes of a conversation between two speakers, followed by 5-7 multiple-choice questions.
- Announcements and public speeches: 2-3 minutes of a speech or announcement, followed by 5-7 multiple-choice questions.
- Candidates are expected to identify main ideas, supporting details, and the speaker's tone and attitude.
Expresión Escrita
- The written expression section of the B1 certification assesses the candidate's ability to write coherent and cohesive texts in Spanish.
- The section consists of 2 parts:
- Email or letter: Candidates are given a prompt and must write a 50-70 word email or letter in response.
- Short essay: Candidates are given a prompt and must write a 150-180 word essay in response.
- Candidates are expected to use proper grammar, vocabulary, and spelling, as well as organize their ideas in a logical and coherent manner.
Comprensión Lectora
- The reading comprehension section of the B1 certification assesses the candidate's ability to understand written Spanish.
- The section consists of 4-5 texts, including:
- News articles or reports
- Advertisements or brochures
- Informative texts
- Short stories or extracts
- Candidates are expected to identify main ideas, supporting details, and the author's tone and attitude, as well as understand the relationship between the text and the accompanying images or graphics.
