Centrifuge Operation Guidelines
- Verify the "Cleaned" status of the centrifuge and ensure it is clean before operation.
- If the centrifuge has been idle for 48 hours or more, flush it and its bag with water, then spin dry for about 10 minutes.
- Check that the area surrounding the centrifuge is clean and dry before use.
- Wear protective gear, including a nose mask, gloves, and face cover, prior to starting any operations.
- Inspect the centrifuge bag for any cuts or holes, and assess the condition of the centrifuge brakes and rotation.
- Close the centrifuge lid before slowly introducing the slurry into the unit.
- Follow process requirements for spinning and drying the material after feeding.
- Completely switch off the centrifuge and unload the material once operation is finished.
- Hold the centrifuge ML until the required weight of the wet cake is reached, discard if unnecessary into the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).
- Seal the centrifuge lid, label containers with appropriate status tags, and prepare them for further processing.
Cleaning Procedures
- Check that the centrifuge is turned "OFF" before initiating cleaning.
- Display "UNDER CLEANING" on the status board to indicate the centrifuge is not in use.
- For normal cleaning, flush the empty centrifuge bag with water and ensure all adhered materials are removed. Transfer the washings to the ETP.
- For hard-to-clean areas, detach the upper cover by loosening the nut bolts, flush the inner portions, visually inspect for residue, and reattach the upper cover.
- Perform a final rinse by flushing the centrifuge and soaking the centrifuge bag in water for approximately 20 minutes, then air dry and label before storage.
- Update the status board to "CLEANED" after completing the cleaning process.
- Document all cleaning operations properly.
Partial Cleaning Steps
- Confirm the centrifuge is "OFF" and empty prior to partial cleaning.
- Show "UNDER CLEANING" on the status board to signal ongoing maintenance.
- Dust the area surrounding the centrifuge to maintain a clean working environment.
- Detach the empty centrifuge bag, soak it to dissolve remaining materials, and ensure thorough rinsing.
- Visually inspect the centrifuge bag to confirm no material remains adhered.
- Flush the centrifuge itself with water and collect the washing for disposal in the effluent plant.
- Visually verify that no materials are left on the walls of the centrifuge.
- Change the status to "CLEANED" on the board after completion.
- Log all operations conducted during partial cleaning.
