Creating a New Virtual Machine using Vmware Player

  • Set the DVD to 'Datastore ISO File' when creating a new Virtual Machine.
  • Set the network card mode to 'NAT' or 'Bridged' when creating a new Virtual Machine.
  • The guest OS should be the operating system to be installed on the Virtual Machine.

Allocating Resources

  • Allocate at least 20 GB of HDD space when creating a new Virtual Machine.
  • In the Customize Hardware page, set the CPU to 4 cores and the Memory to 16 GB.

Installing the Operating System

  • After starting up the VM, select the ISO file to begin the installation process.
  • After naming the new Virtual Machine 'Prometheus', proceed with the installation process.

CentOS 8 Partitioning

  • The recommended size for the /boot partition in CentOS 8 is 1 GB.
