Traffic Signals and Signs

• Red color means 'stop' at a traffic signal.
• A stop sign means drivers must come to a complete halt before proceeding.

Traffic Light Rules

• You can turn right at a red light unless there is a sign prohibiting it.
• You can turn left on a red light from a one-way street onto another one-way street.
• A flashing yellow light means caution or warning.

Vehicle Window Requirements

• For operating a motor vehicle with a louvered rear window, a rearview mirror is required.
• Heavily-tinted windows have a restriction of not less than 35% light transmittance.
• The maximum total solar reflectance of visible light allowed for sun-screening material is 35%.
• The minimum light transmittance in the visible light range required for sun-screening material is 35%.

Road Test

• You can use a back-up camera during the road test if your vehicle is equipped with one.
• The minimum passing score for the road test in Kentucky is 80%.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

• A Class A CDL is required for operating any combination of vehicles with a GCWR of 26,001 pounds or more.
• The purpose of the Kentucky Commercial Driver License Act is to ensure safe and qualified drivers.

Safe Driving Practices

• The penalty for using a cellular telephone while operating a school bus in Kentucky is a fine or license suspension.
• A yield sign shaped like a triangle and red and white colors means to slow down or stop and give the right of way.
• Drivers should yield to pedestrians in crosswalks or when they are approaching.
• At an uncontrolled intersection, when two cars reach it at the same time, the driver on the right has the right of way.
• The middle lane or lanes in a road with three or more lanes in one direction are for passing and should be used accordingly.
• When passing other vehicles, drivers should use caution, check blind spots, and use turn signals.
