Browser Requirements
- Tier 1 browsers: latest version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge on Enterprise Linux and any operating system
- Tier 2 browsers: earlier versions of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox on any operating system
- Tier 3 browsers: other browsers on any operating system
Client Requirements
- Virtual machine consoles can only be accessed using supported Remote Viewer (virt-viewer) clients on Enterprise Linux and Windows
- Installing virt-viewer requires Administrator privileges
- virt-viewer is installed on Enterprise Linux and Windows using the Virtual Machine Management Guide
System Requirements
- oVirt Engine: Secure Shell (SSH) access on port 22 and 2222 for maintenance, configuration, and software upgrades
- oVirt Engine: HTTP (port 80) and HTTPS (port 443) access for clients
- oVirt Nodes: HTTP redirects connections to HTTPS
- ovirt-imageio service: TCP port 54322 for communication with oVirt Nodes
- oVirt Nodes: UDP port 6081 for OVN tunnel creation between hosts (required for OVN network provider)
Storage Preparation
- A oVirt environment must have at least one data storage domain
- Adding more data domains is recommended
- Data domains can be of different storage types (NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, Gluster Storage)
- Self-hosted engines require an additional data domain with at least 74 GiB dedicated to the Engine virtual machine
Prerequisites
- Prepare storage for the additional data domain before installation
- Upgrade appliance content to the latest product version before performing engine-setup
- FQDNs must be prepared for the Engine and host with forward and reverse lookup records in the DNS
