Brother Bear (2003) Movie

Setting

• The film is set in a post-ice age North America, where the local tribesmen believe all creatures are created through the Spirits, who appear in the form of an aurora.

The Three Brothers

• Kenai avenged Sitka by killing the bear, but the Spirits, in the form of Sitka's spirit, transformed Kenai into a bear as punishment.

Kenai's Transformation

• Denahi, believing Kenai was dead, vowed to avenge his brother, thinking the bear (Kenai) was responsible for his death.
• Kenai, now a bear, was healed by Tanana, the shaman of his tribe, who told him to travel to the place where the lights touched the Earth to be changed back into a human.

Kenai and Koda

• Kenai met Koda, a chatty bear cub, who was separated from his mother and trying to find his way back to the Salmon Run.
• Kenai and Koda formed a deal: Kenai would go with Koda to the Salmon Run, and then Koda would lead Kenai to the mountain.

Journey to the Mountain

• Along the way, they met other friends, including two moose, some rams, and some mammoths, who gave them a ride.
• Kenai discovered that he could understand the wildlife and they could talk.
• They were hunted by Denahi, who feared the bear had killed Kenai as well.

The Salmon Run

• Kenai and Koda reached the Salmon Run, where a large number of bears lived as a family, including Tug, a Grizzly Bear.
• Kenai became at home and content with the other bears and discovered that he liked being a bear.

Kenai's Realization

• Koda told a story about his mother fighting human hunters, making Kenai realize that the bear he had killed was Koda's mother.
• Kenai understood that humans weren't only afraid of bears; through Koda's eyes, the humans were the attacking monsters.

Conclusion

• Kenai was forced to learn a lesson about nature and life, seeing the world through the eyes of his prey.
• With a new perspective, Kenai made a decision to change his world forever.
• Guilty and horrified, Kenai ran away, but Koda found him, and Kenai revealed the truth about killing Koda's mother.
