Brachial Plexus
- The brachial plexus is a network of nerves that supplies the upper limb.
- It is composed of five roots, three trunks, six divisions, three cords, and numerous branches.
Formation and Location
- Roots: Formed by the ventral rami of C5, C6, C7, C8, and T1.

Trunks:
- Upper trunk: C5 and C6 roots unite.
- Middle trunk: C7 root alone.
- Lower trunk: C8 and T1 roots unite.

Divisions:
- Each trunk divides into anterior and posterior divisions.
- Anterior divisions form the lateral and medial cords.
- Posterior divisions form the posterior cord.

Cords:
- Medial cord: Formed from the anterior division of the lower trunk.
- Lateral cord: Formed by the union of anterior divisions of the upper and middle trunks.
- Posterior cord: Formed by the union of the posterior divisions of the three trunks.
Branches of the Brachial Plexus

- Nerve to Rhomboids (Dorsal Scapular Nerve): Arises from C5 root.
- Nerve to Serratus Anterior (Long Thoracic Nerve): Arises from C5, C6, and C7 roots.

Axillary Nerve
- Axillary nerve supplies the deltoid and teres minor muscles.
Suprascapular Nerve

Suprascapular Nerve runs through the suprascapular notch and supplies the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles.

Note: Branches of both the medial and lateral cords supply the flexor side of the upper limb, while branches of the posterior cord supply the extensor side of the upper limb.
