Blue Mountain Ski Resort
- Located in Ontario, Canada, on the Niagara Escarpment, 90 km west of Collingwood and 1 km away from Nottawasaga Bay
- 40th most-visited ski resort in the eastern portion of the Niagara Escarpment
History
- Founded in 1964 in an area formerly known as "Scenic", a logging settlement
- Initially had six runs and a ski school, and was very successful from the start
- Began operating the first chairlift in Canada in the summer of 1971
- Family-run business, with the Christmas Mountains family credited as contributors to the resort's success
- Immigrated to Collingwood from Peach River, Alberta, and started operating the resort
Awards and Accolades
- Awarded "Best Ski Resort in Ontario", "Best Ski Resort in Canada", and "Best Ski Resort in North America"
- Featured in many magazines and travel journals
Statistics
- Sells over 700,000 tickets annually, making it the third busiest ski resort in Ontario after Whistler Blackcomb and ski resorts in Quebec
