Study Notes
- Deoxygenated blood returns to the heart through both vena cavas
- Deoxygenated blood is pooled in the right atrium
- It is then pushed through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle.
- Deoxygenated blood in the right ventricle flows through the pulmonic valve
- The blood flows into the lungs and becomes oxygenated
- The oxygenated blood returns to the heart via pulmonary veins
- The oxygenated blood gathers in the left atrium
- Then the oxygenated blood flows through the mitral valve into the left ventricle
- Then the oxygenated blood flows through the aortic valve into the aorta
- Oxygenated blood is then pumped out of the heart, through the aorta
