Habitats and Environments

• A habitat is the environment in which a plant or animal naturally lives.
• Different habitats contain different plants and animals.

Observing and Recording Habitats

• Collect and record observations and/or measurements by annotating images and completing simple tables.
• Compare two local habitats and make observations.
• Record observations in drawings.

Plants and their Needs

• Plants need light, water, soil, and air to grow healthily.
• A habitat provides plants with the necessary resources for growth.
• Examples of plants in a habitat include small plants, larger ones, and the largest plants.

Comparing Habitats

• Compare two habitats to identify similarities and differences.
• Observe the environment, such as bushes, other plants, soil, light, air, and water.
• Identify the characteristics of each habitat, such as dry, wet, or sunny.

Animals and Habitats

• Animals, such as insects like ants, live in a habitat.
• Some animals, like birds, visit a habitat.
• A habitat is the environment in which an animal lives or visits.
