Bihar DELED Entrance Overview

Bihar's Department of Education and Literacy (DELED) conducts the Bihar Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) entrance examination annually to admit eligible candidates into various D.El.Ed. teacher training institutions across the state. The D.El.Ed. program prepares students for work as primary teachers in government and private schools, catering to the state's growing educational needs.

Exam Pattern

The Bihar DELED entrance exam is a written test consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and short-answer type questions (SAQs). The question paper is bilingual, available in Hindi and English, and has two sections:

1. Section A: General English, Hindi, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies, consisting of 50 questions with 1 mark each.
2. Section B: Child Development & Pedagogy, Educational Psychology, and Didactics of Language & Mathematics, consisting of 50 questions with 2 marks each.

The total marks for the exam are 150, and there is no negative marking.

Syllabus

The syllabus for the Bihar DELED entrance exam is broadly divided into two sections: Subject-wise and Pedagogy-related topics.

Subject-wise topics cover the following subjects:

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Bihar DELED entrance exam, an applicant must:

1. Be an Indian national.
2. Have passed the 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board.
3. Be at least 18 years old on the last date of submission of the application form.
4. Have completed a diploma or certificate in elementary education (or its equivalent) recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
5. Candidates who are awaiting their final results are also eligible to apply, but they must submit the required documents at the time of counselling.

Candidates from the Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) are provided with a reservation quota in line with government policies.
