The Birth of Jesus Christ
- Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea during the reign of King Herod.
- Wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, seeking the King of the Jews, having seen a star in the East.
- The wise men's question troubled King Herod and the entire city of Jerusalem.
The Search for Jesus
- King Herod gathered chief priests and scribes to ask about the birthplace of Christ, and they told him it was Bethlehem, as written by the prophet.
- Herod secretly asked the wise men about the timing of the star's appearance and sent them to Bethlehem to search for the young child.
The Visit of the Wise Men
- The wise men followed the star, which led them to the house where Jesus was, and they rejoiced with great joy.
- They worshiped Jesus and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
- God warned them in a dream not to return to Herod, and they departed to their own country another way.
The Flight to Egypt
- An angel appeared to Joseph in a dream, warning him to take Jesus and Mary to Egypt, as Herod would seek to destroy Jesus.
- Joseph took his family to Egypt, where they stayed until Herod's death, fulfilling the prophecy "Out of Egypt have I called my son."
Herod's Massacre
