Emergency Vehicle Response Definitions
- Authorized Emergency Vehicle: A vehicle equipped with emergency lights and siren
- Coded Call: A computer-aided dispatch incident categorized as Code 2 or 3
- Stationary Roadblocks: Part of the roadway blocked by one or more vehicles to limit passage
- Vehicle Pursuit: Begins when a violator attempts to evade a marked police vehicle
Procedures for Responding to Emergency Calls

Response to Coded Calls: Hazardous situations warrant careful consideration of environmental and safety factors for both deputies and bystanders.

Vehicle Operation: Safe and prudent operation, accounting for surroundings, traffic, and other drivers.

- Code Two (Code 2) Call: Immediate attention needed (robbery, crashes), emergency lights and horn, complete stops at lights and signs; 2 or more patrol units
- Code Three (Code 3) Call: Critical situations, immediate danger to life/safety, immediate assistance required, continuous use of emergency lights and siren; 2 or more patrol units
