Neuroscientist turned software developer earns four AWS certifications in four months

Rola Dali, a former neuroscience researcher, switched to software development and joined Local Logic, a company that uses data to generate insights for livable cities.
Rola started using AWS services every day at her new job and decided to validate her cloud knowledge with AWS Certifications.
She began with the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification to gain a better overview of the AWS ecosystem and to learn how to make architectural decisions using the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
Rola found the AWS She Builds program to support her cloud learning journey, which is flexible, community-oriented, and geared towards helping women gain their AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
In November 2021, during the pandemic, Rola set a personal challenge to earn four AWS certifications in four months as a therapeutic way to focus on something useful and disconnect from the world through learning.
Rola used AWS Skill Builder to study for each certification, which she found well thought out and curated, enabling her to complete the "four in four" challenge.
AWS Training and Certification has helped Rola gain a better understanding of the AWS ecosystem, troubleshoot issues, and find and use resources more efficiently.
Rola's work at Local Logic involves building extract/transform/load pipelines and application programming interfaces that serve data to users, which relies on her knowledge gained from AWS Training and Certifications.
Rola completed her fifth certification, AWS Certified Database – Specialty, in March and is currently studying for the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate, which she plans to complete in June.
Rola believes that industry and academia complement each other and that there is cross-pollination between the two fields.
