    Classes of Fires

    Fire Extinguisher Operation

    • Water operation extinguisher: turn handle clockwise, aim at the base of the fire, depress thumb lever, and use a sweeping motion.
    • Cabin Halon fire extinguisher: press down on the black lever, aim at the base of the fire, squeeze handles together, and use a sweeping motion.
    • HAFEX Halon-free fire extinguisher: pull the pin, aim at the base of the fire, squeeze handles together, and use a sweeping motion.

    Flight Deck Equipment

    • Flight attendants must be aware of the location and operation of Flight Deck emergency equipment.

    Portable Oxygen Bottle (POB)

    • Single outlet POB: high disperses 4 liters/minute for 60 minutes, low disperses 2 liters/minute for 120 minutes.
    • Dual outlet POB: high disperses 4 liters/minute for 30 minutes, low disperses 2 liters/minute for 60 minutes.

    Megaphone and EMK

    • The megaphone has 30 minutes of continuous use.
    • The EMK (Emergency Medical Kit) is used to respond to medical emergencies.

    Captain's Responsibilities

    • The captain determines if something is inoperative, not the flight attendant.

    Pre-flight Check

    • During the pre-flight check, ensure seatbacks are free of trash, all seats have a safety information card, seatbacks are in upright position, and tray tables are stowed and locked.

    General

    • The bigger the plane, the bigger the zones, and the bigger everything.

    Emergency Equipment

    Deficient Equipment

    • Notify the Flight Deck immediately if equipment is found to be deficient (missing/broken) during the pre-flight check or in-flight

    • Cabin Stowage for Wheelchair: straps tight, ensure wheelchair won't move into aisle with normal aircraft movement

    • One (1) Extended Delay Kit (EDK) box containing 240 packages of Biscoff cookies in the AFT OHB A/C Right
    • Snacks specifically provisioned for the TDP and are NOT authorized for use at any other time

    Additional Fire Extinguisher Information

    • HAFEX Halon-free Fire Extinguisher can be used on Class A, B, and C fires
    • No need to follow up with a non-flammable liquid if used on a Class A fire
