Urban Transformation Projects

  • The Site of Hong Kong’s former Kai Tak Airport is set for huge transformation and "the Airside" will occupy this area. There is a push to establish a building that mixes use with sustainability with smart waste sorting and water-saving/rain retention plan.

Rooftop Farming

  • It has been found that rooftops are often suitable for green farming as a form of sustainability but requires oversight in liability and insurance of risks in making sure that the soil and roof are aligned structurally.
  • Not every green roof is well-suited for farming and it has also been found that there are obstacles from not only sun, wind, and snow, in growing environments, but that most of all neglect and out of sight/lack of awareness tend to destroy attempts at rooftop sustainability.

Solar Panels Over Parking Lots

  • France found a solution to create sustainability by passing a bill that will at least half-cover parking lots with at least 80 spaces covered with canopies of solar panels.
  • Walmart parking lots can generate the same amount of electricity, and parking lot canopies provide shade for the cars cutting electrical bill and waste.
