API - Aircrew Position Indicator
- A one-digit manpower code that classifies aircrew positions as either numeric (rated) or alphabetic (CEA).
- API codes relate to the aircrew member's assigned position, validated by the HARM office.
API Codes
- API 1: Designates pilot positions.
- API 2: Indicates navigator, combat systems officer, or observer roles.
- API 3: Refers to non-flying staff or supervisory positions at wing level or below (rated).
- API 4: Applies to staff or supervisory positions above wing level that are not required to fly (rated).
- API 5: Corresponds to flight surgeon assignments.
- API 6: Positions at wing level or below required to fly (rated).
- API 7: Active flying duties for USAF officers assigned to non-USAF units.
- API 8: Supervisory positions above wing level that require flying (rated).
- API 9: Air Battle Manager (ABM) roles that necessitate flying.
- API 0: Rated officers in non-rated roles and all non-rated officers.
Specific API Roles
- API A: Line flying unit with aircraft assigned.
- API B: Staff or supervisory positions at wing level and below that require active flying.
- API C: Staff or supervisors at wing level and below not required to fly.
- API D: Supervisory roles above wing level that require flying.
- API E: Supervisory roles above wing level not required to fly.
- API G: Flying duties in non-USAF units; not occupying a USAF position.
- API Z: Non-CEA duties with no CEA responsibilities.
FAC - Flying Activity Code
- Defines the member's actual flying activity in detail, indicating what the member is doing in their position.
FAC Codes
- FAC 1: Primary job is flying; not related to formal flying training.
- FAC 2: Instructors and students involved in formal flying training who actively fly.
- FAC 3: Operation supervisors who are active flyers not linked to formal training.
- FAC 7: Inactive rated officers.
- FAC 0: Rated officers in non-rated duties and not flying.
Specific FAC Roles
- FAC A: CEA's in non-formal flying training positions, operational role.
- FAC B: Instructors and students in formal flying training with active flying roles.
- FAC C: Operation supervisors who are active flyers not in formal training.
- FAC G: CEAs in inactive status.
ESC - Years of Continuous Service Codes
- ESC 1: 0-12 years continuous service.
- ESC 2: 12-18 years continuous service.
- ESC 3: 18-25 years continuous service.
- ESC 4: 18-22 years of continuous service.
- ESC 5: 12-18 years of conditional service.
- ESC 6: 18-25 years of conditional service.
