Endosteum: Membrana that lines the medullary cavity of bones, involved in bone growth and repair.
Nerve: Neural tissue that transmits signals; crucial for sensation and regulation in bone.
Blood Vessels: Essential for delivering nutrients and oxygen, as well as removing waste from bone tissue.
Compact Bone: Dense form of bone tissue providing strength and support, forms the outer layer of bone.
Pores: Small openings in bone structure allowing for the passage of blood vessels and nerves.
Spongy Bone: Lighter, less dense bone found within the interior, contributing to the structural integrity and reducing weight.
Osteon: Basic structural unit of compact bone, consisting of concentric lamellae surrounding a central canal.
Central Canal: The core of an osteon containing blood vessels and nerves, facilitating nutrient supply.
Periosteum: Dense layer of vascular connective tissue enveloping the bones except at the surfaces of the joints.
Perforating Canal: Channels that connect central canals and carry blood vessels and nerves throughout bone.
Trabeculae: Thin plates of bone tissue in spongy bone, providing support and house bone marrow.
Bone Matrix: Extracellular material composed of collagen fibers and mineral salts, giving bone its strength and rigidity.
Canaliculus: Microscopic channels in the bone matrix, allowing communication and nutrient exchange between osteocytes.
Osteocyte: Mature bone cell embedded within the bone matrix, responsible for maintaining bone tissue.
Lacuna (space): Small cavities within the bone matrix that house osteocytes.
