Annex 4 Regulation 1: Definitions

A ship for which the building contract is placed, or in the absence of a building contract, the keel of which is laid, or which is at a similar stage of construction, on or after the date of entry into force of this Annex; or the delivery of which is three years or more after the date of entry into force of this Annex.

Sewage refers to specific types of drainage and waste, including from toilets, urinals, medical premises, and living animals, whereas other waste waters can be mixed with sewage.

A holding tank is used for the collection and storage of sewage.
