Study Notes

Organ System Level of Organisation

  • In animals like Annelids, Arthropods, Molluscs, Echinoderms, and Chordates, organs associate to form functional systems, each concerned with a specific physiological function.
  • This pattern is called organ system level of organisation.

Features of Digestive System

  • In Platyhelminthes, the digestive system has a single opening to the outside of the body, serving as both mouth and anus, and is hence called incomplete.
  • A complete digestive system has two openings, mouth and anus.

Types of Circulatory System

  • There are two types of circulatory systems:
  • Open type: blood is pumped out of the heart and cells and tissues are directly bathed in it.
  • Closed type: blood is circulated through a series of vessels of varying diameters (arteries, veins, and capillaries).

This quiz covers the organization of organs into functional systems in different animal groups, including Annelids, Arthropods, Molluscs, Echinoderms, and Chordates. Learn about the complexity of organ systems in various animals.
