Ways to Score

  • Touchdown (6 points): scored when a player carries or catches the ball into the end zone of the opponent's field
  • Field Goal (3 points): scored when a team kicks the ball through the opponent's goalposts
  • Safety (2 points): scored when a player is tackled in their own end zone, or when a team commits a penalty in their own end zone

Scoring Combinations

  • Extra Point (1 or 2 points): attempted after a touchdown; a kick through the opponent's goalposts (1 point) or a successful two-point conversion (2 points)
  • Two-Point Conversion (2 points): a successful attempt to complete a two-point conversion play after a touchdown

Scoring Rules

  • Kickoff Return Touchdown: if a player returns a kickoff for a touchdown, it is worth 6 points
  • Fumble Return Touchdown: if a player recovers a fumble and returns it for a touchdown, it is worth 6 points
