Amateur Radio Licensing and Examinations

• Partial credit for expired licenses can be claimed by individuals who held an FCC-issued General, Advanced, or Amateur Extra class license that was not revoked.
• Accredited Volunteer Examiners (VEs) with a General class license can only administer Technician class examinations.
• Technician class operators who have a CSCE for General class privileges may operate on any General or Technician band segment.

Requirements for Technician Class Examination

• A minimum of three VEs with General class or higher is required for administering a Technician class license examination.
• To be an administering VE for a Technician license exam, one must hold an FCC General class license or higher, along with VEC accreditation.

Operating Procedures and Special Identifiers

• Technician class licensees with a CSCE for General class privileges must add the identifier "AG" after their call sign when operating on General class frequencies until their upgrade is posted by the FCC.
• Volunteer Examiners are accredited by a Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC).

Non-U.S. Citizens and Other Requirements

• Non-U.S. citizens can become accredited VEs if they hold an FCC granted Amateur Radio license of General class or above.
• A Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCE) is valid for 365 days for exam element credit.

Age and Expiration Guidelines

• The minimum age for becoming an accredited Volunteer Examiner is 18 years.
• To obtain a new General Class license after expiration and the two-year grace period, specific content is required beyond just having previously held a license.
