22 Questions

What is a safety feature that engages when the landing gear is fully retracted in the fuselage?

Uplock

Dangerous goods are defined as articles or substances which are capable of posing a risk to Health, Safety, Property, or the environment.

True

Passengers are allowed to bring a refill bottle or lighter fuel for their lighter on board.

False

When you need to approach an aircraft, ALWAYS make eye contact with the pilot first.

True

When the electrical system is powered, the water waste drain masts are not heated electrically.

False

If you are unsure about how to do your task safely, do it anyway but be extra careful.

False

The ice detection system has one ice detector located on the forward lower section of the fuselage.

False

Only the ice protection control is located on the overhead panel.

False

IDG uses an independent closed oil system which circulates oil continuously.

False

Each hydraulic system delivers a non-constant pressure to the users.

False

The APU may be started using an external power source.

True

The APU control panel is located on the Main Instrument Panel.

False

You can monitor the APU generator on the ECAM APU page.

True

There is no APU Fire Auto Extinguishing in flight.

True

Paint is accepted as carry-on baggage in the cabin.

False

Safety matches are ______ to bring in the aircraft.

Forbidden

The APU is located in unpressurized tail cone.

True

The Yellow system is mainly used on ground for maintenance operations and cargo door operations.

True

The Blue and Green pumps are fully interchangeable.

False

Passengers can carry (considering it is a baggage cargo) alcoholic beverages containing more than 24% but not more than 70% alcohol by volume, total net qty per person of 5L.

True

The red collar prevents the circuit breaker from being pulled.

True

The IDG is not the generator itself but a part of the generator system.

True

Study Notes

Pneumatic System

  • Provides hot air for anti-icing of two outboard leading edge slats of each wing

APU

  • Located in unpressurized tail cone
  • Can be started using aircraft batteries or external power source
  • Provides electrical power for aircraft electrical system
  • May not be used for wing anti-ice
  • APU generator does not require an IDG due to relatively constant operating speed of the APU
  • Can be shut down in an emergency by pushing the APU SHUT OFF pb located on the external panel

Hydraulic System

  • Green and Yellow systems are each pressurized by an engine driven pump
  • Yellow system can be pressurized by an electric pump and a hand pump
  • Blue system can be pressurized by an electric pump
  • Green and Yellow systems are fully interchangeable
  • The bidirectional Power Transfer Unit (PTU) enables the green and yellow systems to pressurize each other manually as soon as a differential pressure is detected
  • Normal extension and retraction system is used to extend and retract the landing gear

Electrical System

  • Electrical system can be monitored by selecting the ELEC key on the ECAM control panel
  • Two engine-driven generators are the secondary source of AC power once the engines are running
  • Electrical network is initially supplied by two AC busses
  • APU driven generator can also supply power to the electrical network

Landing Gear

  • Extension and retraction system is used to extend and retract the landing gear
  • Gravity extension is used in case of loss of hydraulics
  • Landing gear doors can’t be closed unless all landing gear are locked in their selected position

Safety Features

  • Uplock is a safety feature that engages when the landing gear is fully retracted in the fuselage
  • Downlock is a safety feature that engages when the landing gear is half extended
  • Always be aware of surroundings and avoid walking behind an aircraft with beacon flashing
  • Propeller blades and rotor blades are nearly invisible when rotating

Miscellaneous

  • Passengers can carry consumer electronic devices containing lithium batteries, considering two spare batteries per person
  • Guns without bullets and magazines are not considered dangerous goods
  • Perfume not exceeding 2kg or 2L and the net quantity of each single article not exceeding 0.5kg or 0.5L can be accepted as carry-on baggage in the cabin by following special assumptions
  • Small gases oxygen or air cylinders required for medical use are accepted as carry-on baggage in the cabin

Test your knowledge of aircraft systems, including pneumatic systems, APU control, and safety protocols.
