Notification to Other Agencies

  • The Medical Examiner is notified on all homicides, suspicious deaths, and deaths where the deceased person's physician will not sign
  • Notify other agencies, such as the Public Information Unit (PIO), on all deaths

Arrestee and Inmate Transport

  • Utilize a designated vehicle for arrestee and inmate transport
  • Check the vehicle before and after each shift and transport
  • Ensure the child lock is engaged on the doors, and the rear outside door is locked
  • Handcuff arrestees behind their back, and the window is locked
  • Never open the rear window, and only open the front right window in extreme circumstances
  • Limit the number of arrestees to three, and separate juveniles from adults
  • Women should not be transported with men unless a specific split cage is used

Baker and Marchman Acts

  • Do not transport individuals under the Baker and Marchman Acts
  • These individuals should be transported by corrections transport

Professional Standards

  • The receiving process for all complaints on alleged employee misconduct is categorized into:
