Study Notes
Symbol Seriousness
- Red X represents the most serious condition for aerospace vehicles.
- Symbols ordered by seriousness: Red X > Red W > Red Dash > Red Diagonal.
Red X
- Indicates an aerospace vehicle, equipment, or SE is unsafe or unserviceable.
- Unserviceable items cannot be used until the issue is resolved and the symbol is cleared.
Red Dash
- Indicates that the equipment condition is uncertain; a more serious issue may exist.
- Upgraded to a Red X after 90 days unless an extension is granted.
Red Diagonal
- Signifies a discrepancy that isn't urgent enough to ground the equipment.
- Signed off by the individual performing the corrective action, marked in the "CORRECTED BY" block.
Symbol Modification
- Red Dash is upgraded to a Red X by closing out the original symbol and documenting the corrective actions.
