- Position the client: Position the patient supine (lying on back) with a pillow beneath the shoulder.
- Wash hands: Wash hands before and after the procedure, adhering to proper hygiene protocols.
- Prepare medication: Prepare the medication, triple checking the dose, verifying the expiry date.
- Administer medication: Hold the dropper 1 cm above the nares. Administer the medicine, turning the head, to both ethmoid and maxillary sinuses.
- Observe for 2 minutes post administration: Observe the patient for 2 minutes after administering the medication.
- Monitor for adverse effects: Monitor the patient for any adverse effects of the medication.
- Clean reusable articles: Properly clean and disinfect all reusable supplies.
