- Chapter 5.2 is about marking and labeling of dangerous goods packages according to ADR regulations.
- UN number and letters "UN" must be clearly and durably marked on each package containing dangerous goods.
- Size of marking depends on package dimensions and dangerous goods class.
- Salvage packagings and large salvage pressure receptacles must be marked with "SALVAGE" in letters at least 12 mm high.
- Intermediate bulk containers over 450 litres capacity and large packagings must be marked on two opposite sides.
- For Class 1 goods, proper shipping name as determined in accordance with 3.1.2 must be added to the mark, legible and indelible in one or more languages including French, German, or English.
- For Class 2 refillable receptacles, UN number and shipping name must be marked along with maximum filling mass and tare, and the date of the next periodic inspection.
- Markings must be readily visible and legible, and able to withstand open weather exposure without losing effectiveness.
- Engraving or durable information disk or label attachment are acceptable options for providing required particulars.
