Barakah Tuah Plantation produces and markets a range of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) products such as cooking oil, juices and cooking sauces to the Malaysian market. To support the business infrastructure, Barakah Tuah Plantation is a leader in research & development (R&D). The R &D Division was used to have its employment over 200 scientists and researchers in the pre Covid-19 period, carrying out various studies on yield efficiency, best practices, quality, agriculture best practices and in food ingredients. However, half of its R&D staff were laid off due to Covid-19. Barakah Tuah Plantation is a fully integrated player along the oil palm value chain – from the food farm to food on the table; the Division grows one of the cheapest forms of vegetable oil in its estates, processes this harvest in its own mills and then in its own refineries, and finally, Barakah Tuah Plantation also produces cooking oil for the domestic cooking oil market. Being a fully integrated player of the industry means it can control quality at every level by applying best practices across all the stages of the palm oil value chain. To stay ahead of competition, Barakah is expected to be innovative in product offerings over its value chain. Nevertheless, BTPl was recently heavily fined for environmental violations related to open burning and other pollution in their plantations. Barakah Tuah Property is an established integrated property group and one of the leading property developers in Malaysia, focused on becoming the leading developer of sustainable communities. It is also the country's largest developer in term of landbank. Barakah Tuah 1 Property (BTP) currently has 19,000 acres of landbanks and has identified another 18,800 acres for future development. The core businesses of the Division are property development, property investment, hospitality & leisure, and China operations. Apart from Malaysia, it has successful projects in five countries, namely, Singapore, Vietnam, China, Australia, and United Kingdom. With the global megatrend of Sustainability, BTB adopted Environmental, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) initiatives including Net Carbon Zero in its strategic environmental footprints. BTP expects with initiatives will lower its cost of debts. Interestingly, for the group companies, BT has yet to adopt ESG. Over the years, Barakah Tuah Property has built 10 townships with communities of about 80,000 families and 400, 000 residents across its major townships in the Klang Val.
